Caucasus celebrates Russian Language Day and Pushkin's birthday


Today all Russia celebrates birthday of the greatest Russian writer and poet Alexander Pushkin. Traditional celebration of "Pushkin Day” also reached the Caucasus.

In Dagestan, events commemorating the 212th anniversary of the poet’s birth were organized by the Republican Youth Library named after him, together with the Writers' Union of the Republic. Celebration began with the laying of flowers at the monument to the poet, which is located near the former library building. The event was attended by representatives of the Writers' Union of Dagestan, the library staff, pupils and students.

The day was celebrated also in Armenia and Azerbaijan.
