Krasnodar scientists to climb Ararat

Krasnodar scientists will go on the Ararat-2011 international science
expedition to mark the 65th anniversary of the Krasnodar office of the
Russian Georgraphic Society, Yuga.ru reports.


They will climb to the Kachkar Peak (3937 m) of the Ponti Mounts, the
peak of Big Ararat (5165 m ). They will also study glaciers and
volcanic lakes to determine global climate changes and their influence
in the Black Sea area.


The expedition will be supervised by a PhD for Georgaphy and member of
the Russian Georgaphic Society, Andrey Zimnitsky. Professor Yuri
Yefremov, chairman of the regional office of the RGS, PhD for
Georgaphy. The expedition will end on July 20.
