Kabardino-Balkaria is marking the 90th anniversary of statehood today,
it will open a new school and a by-pass road, RIA Novosti reports.
Kabardino-Balkaria left the Gorskaya Republic on 1 September 1921, and
became the Kabardinskaya Autonomy of the RSFSR, becoming the
Kabardino-Balkaria Autonomous Region on January 16, 1922.
The republic's Statehood Day was established in 1997.
The village of Anzorey in the Leskensky District opened a school for
660 pupils today. Kabardino-Balkarian President Arsen Kanokov arrived
for the opening.
Nalchik will open a by-pass road around the “Caucasus” Federal
Highway. The local hippodrome will hold the Elbrus Cup horse races.
Nalchik will also open the reconstructed Music Theater.
The republic will hold performances, concerts, exhibitions and sports
competitions to mark Statehood Day.
