Soyuz booster crash caused by production defect

The reason for crash of the Soyuz-U booster on August 24 was clogging
of the fuel feed to the gas generator. Experts say the production
defect was accidental, RIA Novosti reports.

The Soyuz-U booster carried Progress M-12M from Baikonur. Its engine
shut down on the third stage, in the 325th second. Remains of the
rocket probably crashed in Gorny Altai.

The Russian Federal Space Agency will check all produced boosters to
determine whether it was a production defect or not.
