The Azerbaijani capital of Baku is hosting Iranian cultural week, introducing Persian arts and culture, and holding Iranian film screening sessions, Iranian news agency Press TV reports on Wednesday.
Iran's Deputy Culture Minister for Cinematic Affairs Javad Shamaqdari attended the opening ceremony of the event along with a number of Iranian cineastes, officials and students.
Hassan Najafi's The 8th Sky and Majid Majidi's Weeping Willow were screened during the inauguration ceremony.
In his opening speech, Shamqdarii highlighted features of Iranian cinema, saying that most Iranian films are produced in an attempt to draw attention to religious principles and ethical values.
He also took part in a panel discussion session held on Iranian cinema and attended by many students and scholars in Baku.
