Grozny has held the All-Russian Science-Practical Conference, Grozny-Inform reports.
The conference was held at the Grozny State Oil Technical University named after Academian M.D. Millionshikov. The topic for discussions was modern issues of geology, geophysics and geo-ecology of the North Caucasus.
President of the Chechen Academy of Science, Shakhruddi Gapurov, expressed happiness that the scientific forum was held in Chechnya.
Gapurov reminded that Grozny had always been one of the largest science centers of the Soviet Union before the war started. Science activities concerned oil industry. The war destroyed all infrastructure and science laboratories by early 2000, not to mention oil refineries that still need restoration. Chechen Leader Ramzan Kadyrov continued the policy of the first Chechen President Akhmad-Hajji Kadyrov and started swift restoration of science facilities. The republic has own Academy of Sciences, laboratories making discoveries. The Council for Protection of Dissertations for geophysics will be opened by 2012. The republic hosts regular symposiums, conferences, councils.
Reports were made on geological explorations of Grozneftegaz in Chechnya in2009-2011, problems of ecological structures, prospects for oil and gas industry, licensing of the Tersk-Sunzhensky Oil and Gas District and its resources.
