The capital of Adygeya, Maikop, has started the realization of the project “The basics of Orthodox culture”, Yuga.ru reports.
Lessons will start next academic year as part of the purpose program of the Maikop administration “Ethic and moral upbringing by means of Orthodox culture”. The program will receive 3.47 million rubles of financing.
Bishop Tikhon said that they want to teach pupils history of the Orthodox culture within its interaction with other religions. It is especially essential in the multinational society of Russia, the bishop explains.
There are discussions about introducing studies of the basics of religion. The Orthodox Gymnasium of Maikop gives lessons on the subject.
Tikhon also pointed out the work of Sunday schools, the Orthodox Gymnasium which received license of the Moscow Patriarchy this year, cooperation with pre-schools, middle schools and higher education centers, as well as centers for additional education.
