Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev has attended the 100th anniversary of Dinmuhamed Kunayev, his press service reports.
The country marks Kunayev’s anniversary regularly, with whole generations of the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s commemorating him for founding the economy and further development of Kazakhstan.
Nazarbayev praised the role of Kunayev in the history of Kazakhstan and its people. The president recalled that Kunayev had great inner culture, great education and personal skills.
Kunayev had put a lot of effort into making Alma-Ata one of the most beautiful cities of Kazakhstan. He played a significant role in developing science, education, culture and arts, the president said.
Nazarbayev noted that he had signed a decree 17 years ago commemorating Kunayev. Universities, enterprises and a set of other organizations were named after Kunayev. Streets in Alma-Ata and Astana were named after Dinmuhamed Kunayev. Films, coins ad books about his life will be made for the anniversary.
