Over 120 burial mounds have been destroyed in the Kichik Dekhe Village of Shekinsk District in Azerbaijan. The grave mounds were made in about 2,000 BC, APA reports.

Nasib Mukhtarov, head of the archeological of Sheki-Gakh-Oguz of the Institute for Arehcology and Ethnography of the Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences, said that about 100 hectares of burial mounds were destroyed in Agder. The area was registered by the institute in 2006 and signs put. The local authorities were informed about the archeological area.

Mukhtarov noted that there had been at least 130 burial mounds. But local farmers cultivated the land and no burials can be seen now. Only 2-3 were left near the Hajinokhur Lake and on the edge of municipal lands. The Ministry for Culture and Area organized a secured area on the territory.
