Azerbaijan's cooperation with UNESCO flourishes year after year

 

Spokesman for the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Elman Abdullayev commented on Azerbaijan’s mutual relations with UNESCO in light of its election to a number of ruling and supporting structures of this organization, News.az reports.

Speaking about Azerbaijan’s election to these structures of UNESCO, Abdullayev first of all noted the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage, to which Azerbaijan was elected for 2010-2014.

According to the spokesman, Azerbaijan was elected a vice-president of the Committee at its sixth session held in Indonesia in 2011.

Abdullayev also touched upon the cooperation between Azerbaijan and UNESCO.

'Azerbaijan became a member of UNESCO in 1992, since when cooperation with this organization has flourished from year to year. This is much associated with the wide-ranging activity of Azerbaijani first lady Mehriban Aliyeva as a goodwill ambassador to UNESCO.
