Well-known blogger Ilya Varlamov about Baku

The information-analytical agency Vestnik Kavkaza launches a new project entitled "Unknown Caucasus", aimed at publishing materials about various corners of the modern Caucasus.

The project opens up with a report about the city of Baku. With the assistance of Vestnik Kavkaza and International News Agency Trend, the well-known Russian blogger Ilya Varlamov is on a visit to the capital of Azerbaijan. Ilya has already shared his first impressions of what he saw in a photo essay published in his blog, which is one of the most popular Russian Internet resources.

After the first day in Baku, Varlamov compared Baku with Dubai mixed with remains of the Soviet style.
He was particularly fascinated by the modernization of typical five-storey Soviet buildings which in Moscow are torn down.
"In recent years, Baku became much prettier - wrote the journalist - has become one huge construction site, and some projects are at the world's level." The blogger commented on the construction of a well-known architect, Zaha Hadid, of the Heydar Aliyev Center. It is planned to be 21,000 square meters, and accommodate a concert hall as well as a library.

Ilya Varlamov is a popular blogger and amateur photographer, author of the Live Journal blog  with a nickname zyalt. He participates in human rights activities, being one of the organizers of the project "Country of no nonsense." In 2011 he founded anti-award "Glass Bolt."
