Armenian parliament commemorates victims of March 1, 2008

The Armenian parliament has commemorated victims of the tragedy in Yerevan on March 1, 2008, with a minute's silence, News Armenia reports.

Armenian opposition under leadership of first President Levon Ter-Petrosyan, who lost elections on February 19, 2008, held protests at the center of Yerevan on February 20. They turned into clashes on March 1-2, 2008. Ten people died and over 200 were injured.

Galust Saakyan, leader of the Republican Party, requested a 20-minute break before voting on the bill on the state of emergency.
