Buranovskiye Babushki to represent Russia at Eurovision

Buranovskiye Babushki, singers from Udmurtia, will represent Russia at the 57th Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Baku on May 22-26, RIA Novosti reports.


Selection was held at the Russia-1 Channel in Moscow on Wednesday night. Buranovskiye Babushki got 38.51 points.


They took part in selection of singers in 2010, were outrun by Peter Nalich. This time they won with the "House of rising sun" song and "Come on and dance" chorus.


Buranovskiye Babushki come from the Buranovo Village of the Malopurginsky District of Udmurtia. They sing in Russian, English and Udmurt languages.


, first appearing in 2008. They performed songs of Boris Grebenshikov and Victor Tsoy in Udmurt language.
Dima Bilan, winner of the Eurovision Song Contest, got the second position in selection, the t.A.T.U. duo of Yulia Volkova and Aida opera singer with assistance of Timati took the third position.


The judges consisted of Sergey Arkhipov, director of VGTRK direction, Igor Krutoy, composer and producer, Alexander Igudin, director, Philipp Kirkorov, singer, Aman Davletyarov, music director of MUZ-TV, Roman Yemelyanov, program director of Rosskoye Radio, and Gennady Gokhshtein, main producer of the Russia TV Channel's new programs and social projects.


The list of finalists was composed in late February and included 25 singers. The list included Mark Tishman, Ed Shulzhevsky and Chinkong feat Karina headed by a member of the Slivki Band Karina Koks.


Russia-1 invited Ani Lorak who got the second position in the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest and Diskoteka Avaria.
