Ilia II condemned activities of "Imedi"

Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II condemned the television company Imedi, which on Saturday night provoked panic across the country showing the programme about "invasion" of Russian forces and the "murder" of President Mikheil Saakashvili. As noted by Elias II, people are not guinea pigs, and the authorities should pay due attention to this case, RIA Novosti reports.

"We condemn such programmes. I want to ask the authorities to turn their attention to these events. It is impossible that one or another television channel was uncontrolled and showed this" - said the patriarch.
According to him, "Yesterday people accepted this programme as the truth. And if, God forbid, this really happens, people will not believe in it."

Ilia II accentuated that this programme humbled everyone and, in particular, the army, a part of which, on a plot of Imedi, went over to the enemy.

"We apologize to the public for the appeared on the air of newscasts Chronicle special report, which was an imitation and didn't correspond to the facts," - said the television company. - We apologize for the fact that this report has caused great public anxiety."

The opposition is sure that a false story has been agreed with the Head of State and was a "brainwashing" of society.
