A notable Azerbaijani scientists and socio-political figure academician Mityat Abbasov died on April 23, aged 85, Trend reports.
Mityat Abbasov was born in Baku in 1926. He graduated at the Azerbaijani Industrial Institute. He spent most of his life studying problems of oil extraction. He became a PhD of Technical Sciences, a member of the Azerbaijani Academy of Sciences in 1980. Abbasov wrote 650 works. He owns 43 authorship certificates and 6 patents.
Abbasov worked as Azerbaijani State Secretary. He became Vice President of the Academy of Sciences in 1997. The academician worked as the chief scientist at the Institute for Geology of the Academy of Sciences.
Mityan Abbasov was awarded with a set of prestigious state premiums.
The scientists funeral will be held today.
