Freedom House has composed a rating of world freedom of press. Armenia came 149th on the list, entering the section of non-free press countries, together with Pakistan and Angola, News.am reports.
Azerbaijan and Russia take 172nd position, together with Zimbabwe. Iran, Belarus, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan have even worse ratings.
Georgia has the best rating in the region, being 111th on the list, having a partly free press. Turkey shares 117th position with 4 other states.
The list includes 197 states. North Korea is the last in the rating. Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden take the top positions. The top ten includes Denmark, Belgium, Luxembourg, Andorra, Switzerland and Lichtenstein. The US takes 22nd position on the list.
Egypt, Libya and Tunisia - the states that experienced the Arab Spring - improved their rating last year.
