Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and his spouse today attended the opening of the Baku Crystal Hall, which will host the "Eurovision-2012" song contest.
The president cut the ribbon symbolizing the opening of the complex.
Ilham Aliyev and his wife also took part in the opening section of the Baku-Alat, leading to the area of the state flag. Construction work for the Baku Crystal Hall concert hall and sports complex was completed in April.
As the Executive Director of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Anar Alekperov, said, "Eurovision is a very important event for the country. The end of construction works was delayed for three weeks, but today it is completed. Baku is ready to host the contest. The arena will later be used for any other grand concerts."
Construction of the Baku Crystal Hall began last autumn, the total capacity of the complex can reach 25 thousand spectators. 80,000 LEDs and more than 2500 projectors have been installed in the hall. For the first time in Europe a moving mobile lighting system will be used in the Baku Crystal Hall.
