Mehriban Aliyeva opens art exhibition in Baku

The Center of Modern Arts in Baku has opened an exhibition of Azerbaijani and foreign artists Birləşən Körpülər, Trend reports.

Mehriban Aliyeva, the first lady of Azerbaijan, President of the Heydar Aliyev Fund, Leyla Aliyeva, Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Fund, academician Arif Pashayev, President of the Engineering Academy of Azerbaijan, Professor Nargiz Pashayev, head of the Baku branch of the Moscow State University of M.V. Lomonosov and art director of the UNS Art Stage, Aida Mahmoudova, founder of the YARAT! organization, Tair Salakhov, People’s Artist of the USSR, and members of government, artists and public figures attended the opening.

Sara Lukas, Kit Kiventry, James Turrel, Idris Khan and Olimpia Skerry, Altay Sadykhzade, Aida Mahmoudova, Aga Guseynov, Niyaz Najafov, Rashad Alekperov, Farid Rasulov will demonstrate their works.

Aida Mahmoudova and Adam Vaymut (UK) will supervise the exhibition. Birləşən Körpülər is to develop a dialogue between Azerbaijani and foreign artists. Baku is hosting the Eurovision Song Contest 2012. Thousands of guests will see the art works.

YARAT! was founded by Mahmoudova in 2011. It presented the Ön Söz project in October and had 20,000 visitors in a month. Then it held the 012 Baku Public Art Festival. Birləşən Körpülər is held with support of the Ministry for Youth and Sports and sponsored by İtaldizain Qrup, Bakcell and Rapid Solutions. It will be open until June 15.
