Baku has opened the 3rd International Festival Maiden Tower at Icheri Sheher today, initiated by the heydar Aliyev Fund and the Directorate of the State Historic-Architectural Reserve Icheri Sheher, the Museum of Modern Art and the Maiden Tower Art Gallery, Trend reports.
The ceremony was held at the Small Karavansaray. Mikhail Jabbarov, director of the reserve, said that the festival popularizes the Maiden Tower, one of the oldest monuments in Azerbaijan and the symbol of Baku.
The official noted that IDEA, an ecological company headed by Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Fund Leyla Aliyeva, drew attention to the monument. He thanked President of the Heydar Aliyev Fund Mehriban Aliyeva for supporting the festival.
Jeykhun Agakishibeyli, Executive Director of the Museum of Modern Art, noted attention the Heydar Aliyev Fund pays to art and culture.
Emin Mamedov, Director of the Maiden Tower Art Gallery, thanked artists for participating.
Academician Tair Salakhov, People’s Artist of Azerbaijan and Russia, winner of State Premiums of the USSR and Azerbaijan, thanked organizers of the festival.
Artists will now start working on their paintings at the Maiden Tower Square.
