Russia expects Buranovskiye Babushki to be in top 10 best at Eurovision

Over half of Russians expect singers of the Buranovskiye Babushki group to be among the top 10 at the Eurovision Song Contest 2012, RIA Novosti reports.

According to the polls of Russian Public Opinion Research Center (WCIOM), 52% of Russians expect the singers from Udmurtia to take high positions in the list: 25% expect them to enter the top 10 list, 14% expect top 3, 13% believe that the Russian singers could win. People aged 45-59 (56%) and rural population (55%) expect them to enter the list of top 10.

25% of people taking part in the polls do not expect Buranovskiye Babushki to enter the top 10. 26% of young people in Moscow and St. Petersburg have such expectations.

55% of Russians show interest in the song contest: 19% watch broadcasts annually, 36% watched it once, 44% are uninterested.

The main viewers of Eurovision are young Russians (27%), females (24%), residents of Moscow and St. Petersburg (25%). Lowest interest has been registered among men (31%), old people (29%) and the population of large cities (30%).

WCIOM carried out the polls on May 19-20, 2012. 1,600 people in 138 cities and villages of 46 regions were questioned. Margin of error does not exceed 3.4%.
