First International Silkroad Festival in Sheki

The union of Azerbaijani composers held a press-conference with the
participation of the union’s chairman, Frangiz Alizade, where it was
announced that the First International Music Festival ‘Silkroad’ will
be held in the Azerbaijani city of Sheki from June 27th to July 1st,
1news.az reports.


As chairman and art director of the festival, professor Frangiz
Alizade said that there will be concerts in Khansarayi and
Kiarvan-Saray performed by the State Chamber Orchestra of Kara Karayev
headed by the people’s artist, Teymur Geokchayev, the Azerbaijani
theatre of opera and ballet, a chorus and the Azteleradio symphony
orchestra, a philharmonic dance group led by Agaverdi Pashayev and
other masters of the stage.


There will be concert versions of the operas ‘Leyli and Medjun’ by
Uzeir Gadjibeyli and ‘Shakh Ismail’ by Muslim Magomayev Sr. On July
1st people will see a symphonic poem ‘For Peace’ by Jovdet Gadjiyev.
There will be guests from Norway and South Korea and Finnish pianist
Nikita Yuzhanin will perform.
