On June 15th the International Summer School opened at Lomonosov Moscow State University's Faculty of History. The project is devoted to Russian history and culture.
The project was sponsored by the American Center for Education, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Bolashak Association (Kazakhstan).
Representatives of Russia, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Moldova, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan took part in the project. The event was attended by undergraduate students, PhD students and fellows of academic institutions of the post-Soviet republics.
The year the event takes place marks the 1150th anniversary of Russian statehood, a remarkable date for not only Russians, but all of the people from the former Russian Empire or the USSR.
The opening ceremony was attended by the dean of the History Faculty, Professor Sergey Karpov. The professor addressed the audience and underlined the importance of academic cooperation between nations.
The programme of the Summer School includes lectures, seminars and round-table discussions devoted to Russian history and art.
