The 29th edition of the international competitions in Qur’an Recitation and Memorization has kicked off in the Iranian capital, Tehran, with representatives from around the world, Press TV reports on Tuesday.
Some 50 reciters and 40 memorizers of the holy Qur’an from about 70 countries have participated in this year’s competitions that opened on Sunday at Tehran’s Milad Tower.
Ali Mohammadi, the director of Iran’s State Endowment and Charity Affairs Organization, said at the opening ceremony that some 14 experts from Malaysia, Egypt, Algeria, Indonesia, Iraq, Syria, Turkey, Lebanon and Iran will judge the competitions during the six-day event.
