Georgian archaeologists find the remains of early medieval monastery complex

Georgian archaeologists have discovered the ruins of an ancient settlement and monastery complex near the town of Kvareli, Georgia Online reports.

According to the experts, the ruins date from the fifth century; as for the scale, they are larger than Bolnisi Sioni.

The temple is divided by five pillars; the basilica has three aisles. Archaeologists also have found stone graves, which they allege belonged to priests.

According to the participants of the excavations, this is one of the most significant discoveries in recent times of Georgian archeology of the Middle Ages.
