Stavropol celebrates end of harvest

Completion of harvesting in Stavropol Territory was marked on Saturday, September 15, with a Harvest Day celebration held in Mikhajlovsk. Traditionally the region's leaders congratulate agricultural workers on the end of the harvest, and award the best with gifts, Interfax reports.

 

An exhibition of breeding animals and birds also took place as part of the celebration of the harvest in Mikhajlovsk. Cattle shown included Aberdeen Angus, Herefords, Kazakh Whites, Kalmyks and Limousins, Red Steppes, Black-and-Whites, Holsteins, Ayrshires, and the Shvitski and Simmental breeds.

 

Horses included Friesians, the Akhal-Teke, Dons, Trakehners, Thirsks, thoroughbred horse breeds and ponies. In addition to the traditional shphere of animals and birds in the exhibition, exotic species such as camels, pigeons, pheasants and quail were displayed.

 

Harvest Day in Mikhajlovsk will also involve competitions in show jumping, a demonstration of dogs and a concert.
