The Moscow State University of M.V. Lomonosov and the Section for History and Philosophy of the Russian Academy of Sciences have organized a two-day international scientific conference “From Ancient Russia to the Russian Federation: The History of Russian Statehood”. It marks the 1150th anniversary of Russian statehood.
The conference is beingattended by the Patriarch of Moscow and All-Russia Kirill, Speaker of the Lower Chamber of Parliament Sergey Naryshkin, head of the MSU Victor Sadovnichy, head of the RSUH Yefim Pivovar, head of the Baku branch of the MSU Nargiz Pashayeva, assistant professor of the History Department of MSU PhD in Science Ismail Agakishiyev and Director of the North-South Center for Political Analysis and Editor-in-Chief of VK Alexey Vlasov.
Kirill noted that true values can only be inherited as traditions. He warned the audience against westernization of the state and cultural structure of the country.
Sadovnichy awarded Kirill with the diploma of an honorary PhD of MSU.
Reports will be made by Nikolai Makarov, director of the Institute for Archeology of RAS, Anatoly Torkunov, head of MGIMO, Vyacheslav Nikonov, Dean of the Department for State Administration of MSU, Alexander Chubaryan, director of the Institute for General History of RAS , Vasily Soldatenko, director of the Ukrainian Institute for National Memory, Yuri Petrov, director of the Institute for Russian History of RAS, Nargiz Pashayeva, director of the Baku branch of MSU.
2012 is the Year of Russian History. The year marks the 1150th anniversary of Russian statehood (originating from about 862 with the arrival of the Rurik Dynasty in Novgorod) and the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Borodino in the Great Patriotic War of 1812.
