Prayers start at Tkhaba-Yerdy temple in Russia

Prayers have started again at the Tkhaba-Yerdy Christian temple built in the Jeyrakhsky District of Ingushetia in the 9th century. Savva Gagloyev, secretary of the Vladikavkaz and Makhachkala Eparchies, organized a ceremony for Duchess Maria Romanova, head of the Russian Imperial House, Interfax-South reports.

Ingush Leader Yunus-Bek Yevkurov noted the importance of prayers in the temple as a symbol of Ingushetia.

Romanova arrived in Ingushetia on November 8 to visit the memorial of her great grandfather Mikhail Romanov.

The temple is located near the Georgian border in the Asinovskoye Gorge, between Khayrakh and Puy. It is part of the Jeyrakhsky-Assinsky National Park. The temple is 17 meters long and 7.5 meters wide. It was built in the 8-9th centuries.
