Azerbaijani carpets recognized as national heritage of Iran

 

Azerbaijani carpets were recognized as a national heritage of Iran at a ceremony held in the Petrochemical Palace of Tabriz, Trend reported.
Persian rugs are among the most famous in the world, the Iranian Vice President, and Tourism and Protection of Cultural Monuments Department Chairman and Free Economic Zones Center Chairman, Hamid Baghai, said.
Baghai said that?next week the?old Tabriz Bazaar will be included on the UNESCO list of World Cultural Heritage sites.
During the rule of Hulagu Khan (1217-1265), Tabriz was a center of production and sale of carpets.
