Today Galina Vishnevskaya, the famous Russian opera singer and
teacher, was awarded the Order "For Services to the Fatherland" of
the first degree. The corresponding decree was signed by Russian
President Vladimir Putin.
According to the document, the award to Galina Vishnevskaya was given
"for her outstanding contribution to the development of the national culture
and music" .
