French actor Gerard Depardieu is on a visit to Azerbaijan for cinema projects. The previous visit was made in September 2012 for starring in the “Alexander Dumas in Azerbaijan” documentary as the story-teller, Vesti reports.
The actor said that Azerbaijani culture was part of the Russian Empire former by Catherine the Great.
Filming was made in Baku and other areas Dumas visited in 1858. He wrote a book called “Voyage to the Caucasus”.
The film was directed by Stéphane Bergouniou, produced by Arnaud Frille (France) and Javid Imamverdiyev (Azerbaijan). The Azerbaijani Ministry for Culture and Tourism signed a contract wit STM in September 2012 to reconstruct Azerbaijanfilm.
Depardieu was granted Russian citizenship by President Vladimir Putin.
