The Intergovernmental Foundation for Educational, Scientific and
Cultural Cooperation (IFESCCO), with the support of the CIS and the
ABBYY, is introducing electronic dictionaries in the official languages of
the CIS and Georgia, which will appear in the spring of 2013.
"The program will include 12 state language dictionaries in the
following countries - Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan,
Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Russia, Uzbekistan,
Ukraine and Georgia. The electronic dictionaries will be useful to public
authorities and non-profit organizations of the Commonwealth, the
National Academies of Sciences and universities, as well as undergraduate
and graduate students," IFESCCO said, RIA Novosti reportes.
Mikhail Shvydkoi, a co-chairman of the Management Board, said that
one of the main tasks of the IFESCCO is "to support and strengthen
national languages and national cultures." "The dictionary with a
linguistic structure is a tool for the conservation of the cultural
heritage of the countries of the CIS," Shvydkoi said.
