Azerbaijani Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Russia Polad Bulbul ogly is marking his 68th birthday.
The ambassador was born in the family of People’s Artist of the USSR Murtuza Mamedov in Baku on February 4, 1945. He spent his childhood in Shusha, studied at the Azerbaijani State Conservatorium in the class of composer Kara Karayev.
In 1982, Polad Bulbul ogly became the People’s Artist of Azerbaijan.
In 1988, he became the Culture Minister of the Azerbaijani SSR.
In 1994, he became the Director General of TURKSOY, a commonwealth of Turkic states for development of culture and art. He was re-elected in 1997, 2000, 2003.
In 1995, he became an Azerbaijani MP.
In 2002, he became the chairman of the CIS Council for Cooperation of Culture Ministers.
Bulbul ogly is a PhD of Art Studies of the National Art Academy of Azerbaijan, a professor of the Azerbaijani University for Culture and Art, a member of the Europe-Asia International Humanitarian Academy. He became a professor in 2000.
In February 2000, a star named P. Bulbul ogly was opened on the Star Square in Moscow.
In 2006, he became the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Russia. In May 2010, he became the chairman of the board of the CIS International Foundation for Humanitarian Cooperation.
