The Intercontinental Hotel in Berlin hosted a ceremony of awards with support of the European Azerbaijanis Congress yesterday. Eldar Guliyev, an Azerbaijani scientist and MP, President of the Azerbaijan Cooperation University, was awarded with the title of Honorary Scientist of Europe and the Leibniz Medal for research in food security and cooperation with European academies, as stated by V.G. Tyminski, President of the European Academy of Natural Sciences.
Representatives of the Azerbaijani and Turkish communities in Germany attended the session.
Guliyev told the guests about economic achievements of Azerbaijan in the last years and measures taken to improve food security.
Bakhaddin Kaya, Honorary President of the European Azerbaijanis Congress, noted the role of community structures in organizing academic exchanges of Azerbaijan and Europe. President of the congress Samira Patzer-Ismaylova emphasized the intensive cooperation of the Azerbaijani parliament and communities in Europe..
Hakki Keskin, a former German MP and chairman of the Azerbaijani-Turkish society of Germany, reminded about the upcoming anniversary of the Khojaly Massacre. He expressed solidarity of the Turkish community in Germany and Azerbaijani people, whose lands were occupied by Armenia.
