Irish stage to host Iranian theater ensemble

Iranian stage director Shima Farahmand is planning to perform the Irish dramatist Brien Friel’s work Molly Sweeney in the writer’s country, Ireland, Iranian broadcaster Press TV reports.

“As the play has great popularity in Ireland, we will try our best to present performances in the country,” Farahmand said.

Born in 1929, Brien Friel is known as one of the greatest living English-language dramatists who has been hailed by the English-speaking world as an "Irish Chekhov."

Molly Sweeney is a two-act play, which chronicles its title character, Molly, who is a blind woman that undergoes a surgery to restore her sight.
