A music festival organized with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation started on July 25 in Baku, APA reports.
Uzeyir Hajibeyli's Azerbaijan National Symphonic Orchestra played pieces composed by Azerbaijani composers Gara Garayev, Fikret Amirov, Vasif Adigozalov and Ogtay Zulfugarov. A number of concerts and musical events will be held within the festival, which lasts until August 5. Lovers of classic music will delight in music performed by the US, Russian, British, French and Italian talents, as well as the UK's Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. The festival's program also includes master classes for young musicians. The festival will be officially opened on July 30. The famous American jazz star and Grammy winner Al Jarreau will miss the festival because of health problems.
