Specialists of the Archeological Center in Egypt say that Ganja is over 4,000 years old, APA cites Samir Pishnamazzade, deputy director for science at the Ganja section of the Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences.
Director of the Alexandria Library Ismail Serageldin supervised the studies. Samples were collected by Hammer brothers at the valley of the Ganja River.
The Smithson University was making the first studies. The oldest part of Ganja is Zurnabad. Analysis of materials used to keep stones together at the fortress wall is 4,000 years old.
Ganja is currently considered 2500 years old.
