President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev today opened the building of the Azerbaijan State Musical Theatre after a major overhaul.
The Head of State was informed about reconstruction work in the building.
President Ilham Aliyev met foreign experts who were involved the reconstruction work.
It was noted that the first theatre building was constructed in Baku in 1883, initiated by Haji Zeynalabdin Taghiyev. The first performance of the opera Leyli and Majnun by Uzeyir Hajibeyov took place in this theatre.
National leader Heydar Aliyev attended the official opening of the theatre building in October 1998.
President Ilham Aliyev viewed the 460-seat hall.
