Alizade becomes President of Azerbaijani Academy of Sciences

 

Akif Alizadeh has become the President of the Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences. The ceremony was attended by head of the Presidential Administration Ramiz Mekhtiyev, Minister for Industry and Energy Natig Aliyev, academician Arif Pashayev and other officials.

His predecessor Mahmoud Kerimov died on February 9 and was temporarily replaced by Alizade.

Akif Alizade was born in Baku in 1934. He became the director of the Geological Institute. He became a corresponding member of the academy in 1980, a member in 1989, Vice President in 2007. He has the Shokhrat and Sharaf Orders.
