Volgograd is hosting the third international history forum “Great victory achieved by integrity: people of Caucasus in the Battle of Stalingrad”. The forum is attended by officials of the Russian Presidential Administration, Federal Assembly, experts of the North Caucasian and Southern Federal District, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia.
The forum started with laying of flowers at the monument of the Heroes of the Stalingrad Battle at Mamayev Kurgan and visits to its museum.
Dagestani acting President Ramazan Abdulatipov will open the forum talks. Vladimir Chernov, head of the Presidential Department for Interregional and Cultural Relations with Foreign States, will make a speech and read the message of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Alexey Vlasov, Deputy Dean of the History Faculty of the MSU and director of the North-South Center for Political Analysis, will present a report entitled “Preservation of memory about war as a factor of strengthening inter-state relations”. Nikolai Sudavtsov, a professor of the Russian history department of the North Caucasus Federal University, Doctor of History, will present a report entitled “Commonwealth of peoples of Caucasus during the Battle of Stalingrad and Caucasus”.
Two conferences were held in Tuapse and Vladikavkaz in 2010 and 2011. They show that historic memory about the Great Patriotic War is still an important event of the past.
