A museum of figurative art named after Gamzatova will open in Makhachkala on May 18, director of the museum Salikhat Gamzatova said, RIA Novosti reports.
The museum underwent its first major reconstruction. Its building was constructed in the 1930s. Reconstruction by Mostootryad-99 started in November 2012.
“Dagestan in the eyes of Russian artists” will be an exhibition for the opening.
The museum has over 18,000 works, including art of Bryullov, Levitan, Semiradsky, Lentuliv and Rodchenko and art from Western Europe.
