Jamil Guliyev, director of the Public Television of Azerbaijan, said that votes for the Eurovision Song Contest held in Malmo on Saturday had been recounted as Azerbaijani Ambassador to Russia Polad Bulbulogly had said, Trend reports.
The official noted that Russian artists were popular in Azerbaijan and added that the highest points given to Russia were prove of the point.
Russian singer Dina Garipova got the second position according to SMS-votes. However, during vote counts, Russia did not get a single vote from Azerbaijan, causing surprise among the public and intelligencia.
Guliyev expressed hope that the incident would not affect friendly ties with Russia.
