The State Academic Company of People’s Dance of Igor Moiseyev performed the Dances of Peoples of the World at the Abkhaz State Philharmonic named after R. Gunba yesterday, Apsnypress reports.
The program includes dances of Russia, Kalmyks, Moldova, Greece, Bulgaria, Mexico, Argentina and other countries. Art director of the company People’s Artist of Russia Yelena Shcherbakova thanked Abkhaz President Alexander Ankvab and Russian Ambassador Semen Grigoryev for watching the performances.
The dances organized within the framework of marking the Day of Russia are supported by culture ministries.
The company was organized by Igor Moiseyev (1906-2007) on February 10, 1937. It is the only professional choreographic group in the world to interpret and promote dance folklore of peoples of the world.
