More than 500 young people from 15 regions of Russia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, South Ossetia and other countries gathered in the city of Magas, Ingushetia, where the youth festival "Students' Spring in the Caucasus" is taking place. Leaders of public organizations, representatives of student and youth media, as well as winners of the All-Russia festival "Russian Student Spring" in Ulyanovsk take part in the festival.
The festival is founded by the Government of the Republic of Ingushetia and the All-Russian public organization "Russian Union of Youth", with support from the Ministry of Education.
The main goals of the festival are to strengthen cultural ties between student groups and organizations in the regions of the Caucasus and the CIS countries. This year the program of the festival includes a business program, sightseeing, a sports program, presentations of national cultures of the participating countries and a special platform "Youth Media".
The well-known journalist and social activist Maxim Shevchenko, speaking at the festival as a leading expert for young journalists, said the idea of holding an international student forum in the heart of the Caucasus, Ingushetia, is in itself brilliant.
"This is a great forum, I've seen these completely different guys, I thought back to my childhood, to summer camp. Armenians, Azerbaijanis, Georgians, Ingush, Russians, everybody ... and it's the fact that Ingushetia hosts this forum, it's just a huge contribution to the development of our multi-ethnic country, is the restoration of human relations," Shevchenko said.
