UNESCO headquarters mark 20th anniversary of Azerbaijan’s membership

Mehriban Aliyeva, First Lady of Azerbaijan and Goodwill Ambassador of the UNESCO, attended a ceremony organized to mark the 20th anniversary of Azerbaijan’s membership in the organization in Paris.

Aliyeva met UNESCO Secretary General Irina Bokova and discussed further cooperation. Azerbaijani Minister for Culture and tourism Abulfas Garayev and Bokova signed a framework agreement to cooperation in education, science, culture and communications.

Bokova thanked Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev for active cooperation with the organization.

Stone statues of a horse and ram made in the 12-13th centuries and discovered at Ashagy Ayibli of the Tovuz District were granted as a present to the UNESCO.
