172th anniversary of Lermontov's death to be marked in Pyatigorsk

The 172th anniversary of Russian poet Mikhail Lermontov's death is going to be marked in Pyatigorsk. The festivities are expected to take place at the Lermontov's house in the city, where he lived during his exile.

Lermontov was banished to the Caucasus as an officer in the dragoons by Tsar Nicolas I after he wrote a poem devoted to Alexander Pushkin's death. Saturated with bitter satire the poem was explicitly addressed to the inner circles at the court.
