Sources in the Turkmen Ministry of Education have leaked information that the philosophical work "Ruhnama" of the county's first president Saparmurat Niyazov has been excluded from the school curriculum. Teachers in Ashgabat confirm the information, adding that the official announcement has not been made yet.
Instead of the "Holy Book" by Turkmenbashi, Turkmen students will study "the cultural heritage of Turkmenistan", "Principles of Economics", "World Culture", "Ecology" and other subjects, Trend reports.
However, this does not mean that the heritage of Niyazov will be forgotten. Applicants to higher education institutions will continue to take the exam testing their knowledge of his works.
