Monument of Stalin taken down in Georgia may be under restoration

The monument of Joseph Stalin, taken down in June this year on the central square of the town of Gori, is probably under restoration at a military base of the Georgian Defense Ministry, the head of international society ‘Stalin’, Grigoriy Oniani, told Interfax.

He said that confirming this information is difficult, as civilians are not allowed on the military base. But spokesmen of the local authorities said that the monument will be placed on the territory of the Museum House of Stalin no later than the end of this year.

Oniani said that he is more concerned about the monument of Stalin taken down in Tkibuli a month ago. Little is known about its whereabouts, he said, adding that he is ready to purchase the 3-meter-high monument and place it in the yard of his house.
