The Kabardino-Balkarian State University (KBSU) marked its anniversary 2 days ago and held the founding assembly of the Association of Foreign Graduates and Friends of the KBSU. Over 50 of its graduates arrived from abroad for the meeting. The members of the association are on a journey around the North Caucasus.
Basarbi Karamurzov, rector of the KBSU, said that the idea to form the association had appeared long ago, but the conditions to realize it became suitable only recently. The goals of the association can be seen in the charter and include coordination of students.
The association includes graduates from Jordan, Syria, Turkey, UAE, Germany, US, Israel, Palestine.
Karamurzov said that the KBSU had been founded the same year as marking of the 400th anniversary of Kabarda’s merging with Russia. Khatut Berbekov, its first rector, invited famous scientists of chemistry, physics, philology, history, botany and biology to teach students. One of the goals is to preserve the science schools. Six years ago, the science council of the KBSU announced the principle that only teachers engaged in scientific research could give lessons to students.
