Leyla Aliyeva, Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and Head of its office in Russia, Anar Alekperov, Executive Director of the Foundation, Ali Gasanov, Head of the section for relations with public organizations at the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration, unveiled a monument to St. Duke Vladimir, Equal-to-the-Apostles, the Evangelizer of Russia, in Astrakhan at about noon today.
The monument was built by the Foundation to mark the 1025th anniversary of Christianization of Russia.
The Azerbaijani delegation met Governor of the Astrakhan Region Alexander Zhilkin. Kirill, Patriarch of Moscow and All-Russia, awarded Aliyeva with the 3rd-rank Order of Duchess Olga, Equal-to-the-Apostles.
Aliyeva visited the school named after Heydar Aliyev and the regional office of the Azerbaijani Youth Association of Russia. A nursery was founded at the school.
The Azerbaijani delegation will visit Volgograd at 4.00 pm today for the opening of the Heydar Aliyev Park.
