Lomonosov Moscow State University is 57th on the list of the top 100 universities of the world published by Times Higher Education, ITAR-TASS reports.
Times Higher Education's editor-at-large Phil Baty called the MSU an authoritative education center of the world. He noted that the Russian government was trying to make national universities more prestigious.
The list is topped by America’s Harvard University, followed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stanford University (California), the UK Universities of Cambridge and Oxford, followed by Berkeley, Princeton and Yale.
The UK has 10 universities included in the list, Germany six. Australia and Japan five each, the Netherlands four, China and France one each.
MSU was absent in the 2012 rating.
